Foreign Credential Evaluations
A foreign credential evaluation states the U.S. equivalent of a degree, diploma, or academic program completed outside the United States. It confirms that the issuing institution is accredited or officially recognized in its home country, and it translates foreign grading scales, credit hours, and program lengths into terms U.S. institutions understand. Foreign credential evaluations are commonly required for employment-based immigration petitions, professional licensure, graduate school admission, and job applications that call for a specific degree level.
As with all of our service offerings, Trusted Translations adheres to strict standards of confidentiality and quality. Every evaluation report is issued by an AICE member organization – the field’s leading standards body for accuracy, consistency, and ethical practice in international credential evaluation – and paired with certified translations prepared to our ISO 9001:2015-certified quality process.
Trusted Translations is the provider to over 5,000 clients worldwide and is trusted by the most reputable organizations in the world, including the U.S. military and government. Whether you need a General, Academic, or Course-by-Course evaluation, Trusted Translations is your cost-effective and reliable solution.

Choosing Your Foreign Credential Evaluation
There are three types of foreign credential evaluation reports. In general, it is recommended to steer clients toward either the General Evaluation or the Course-by-Course Evaluation, as a full Academic Evaluation is rarely necessary unless a specific receiving institution requests it.
A General Evaluation confirms accreditation and states your degree’s U.S. equivalent – the right choice for most employment and immigration purposes. An Academic Evaluation adds a cumulative GPA and may be requested by certain universities for admission. A Course-by-Course Evaluation goes furthest, analyzing each course you completed and calculating U.S.-equivalent credit hours, which is typically required for professional licensure, transfer credit, or university admissions that call for a detailed transcript review.

All packages include a certified English translation of your source diploma and transcript, prepared by Trusted Translations, and a final evaluation report delivered as a digital PDF (physical copies available on request). Timelines begin once we’ve received your payment and all required documentation.
You’ll need color scans of your official diplomas or degrees and academic transcripts (photographs are not accepted), the same documents in their original language along with certified English translations, and any name-change documentation, if applicable. In some cases, additional documentation may be required – for example, if an educational institution cannot be independently verified, you may need to contact the institution directly and request that official transcripts be sent on your behalf.
As with certified translations, acceptance of any credential evaluation is ultimately at the discretion of the receiving employer, school, licensing board, or government agency.
