Translation: One of the Most Promising Industries in 2014

Recently Inc. Magazine published an article with the five most promising industries in 2014. It’s no surprise that within that select group are two that go hand in hand: apps, and translation and localization services.

Of course, as far as apps are concerned, there isn’t much else to be said. Currently they are undergoing intense expansion as the tools for developing them offer increasingly more varied options.

However, with respect to translation services (and in part as a result of IT expansion), they clarify that this is an industry that currently has a large and growing demand. According to a report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, at the start of the decade the growth forecast in the translation and interpreting market was of 42% with a view to 2020. As we now are reaching the halfway point of that period, the percentage forecast could prove to be even greater.

They also mention the implementation options offered by Google Translate in a global community, facilitating possibilities to break down internal barriers and take aim at new markets. Although the machine translation that it offers is not perfect and requires human revision, it is taken as a first step in helping to manage the high volume of material.

To Inc. Magazine, the opportunities within the field of translation lie in automating the process, where there remains a lot of room for improvement. Below is the link to the full magazine article:
